Nine Levels: Grief

Level 2: [link]

Guys, I haven't drawn a comic (that was more than one page) in five years. So the pacing is off in a few parts and there's a lot of just head shots where something more interesting could be going on, but this will hopefully improve if I get picked to go on.

This is for :iconvert-is-ninja:'s Nine Levels contest. The requirements were to show two of your original characters experiencing some sort of grief and then overcoming it. I really wanted to do this with Darien and Andrew because, even though they're best friends, I never draw them doing anything together. Vert said that the main point of this contest was character development, so I wanted to put these two in a horrible situation and see what they did. Apparently they overcome grief by arguing with each other. I DID NOT KNOW THAT ABOUT THEM BEFORE! :D

The first level was grief, and they experienced grief just being in Hell, because they're angels suddenly in a place where where God can't be found. I think that would be pretty horrific.

The scene change where they go from Darien's office into Hell is sketchy, I know, what with the door that's sometimes a curtain. But, well, when you see him from inside his office he's holding a door and when you see him from inside Hell he's holding a curtain. That's 'cause he's on the border of two dimensions. It would probably have been clearer with more views of the two, but oh well.

Oh wow this is so awesome. Point one: Refreshing to see angels and the idea of God portrayed in a NON CYNICAL light for ONCE. Ahem. Sorry, so very very tired of all the angsting anti authority "angels" with a Big Brother type thing posing as a God that are out there. It's just so... So... Hot Topic.

So yeah, and your expressions are full of WIN and awesome.
And your explanation of their universe and how it works is nicely logical, what with the portal equations and all. Very believable.
